UFS Course 2023

On 23 and 24 May 2023, the Simbra Society held a beginners course for the University of the Free State (UFS). Many thanks are extended to Mr Chris Richter who generously hosted us on his farm outside of Bloemfontein. The first day of the course began with a theory session on both the genetic and phenotypic aspects of cattle selection. Thereafter, the attendees went to the farm to begin the practical session focusing on the phenotypic aspects of male selection. The second day kickstarted with the theory test followed by a practical session on the phenotypic aspects of female selection. The course ended off with a practical test and an interactive discussion where students had the opportunity to engage with what they had learned throughout the course.
